1/10,000 and EO14173 explore past events and parallels with the present. On 6th May 1933, the Berlin Student Union and members of the SA ransacked the ‘Institute for Sexual Science’ before emptying the library of over 10,000 books and other documents. These, amongst other documents, were destroyed four days later in the Opernplatz during one of the first and largest Nazi book burnings. The loss of knowledge from this institute particularly impacted the emerging understanding of what is now known as the trans community. 92 years later, the community is again under attack in many countries, including the former WWII ‘Allies’, the UK, USA and Russia.
