EO14173
1/10,000 and EO14173 explore past events and parallels with the present. In recent years, marginalised groups, of which the trans community has again been particularly targeted, have faced increasing attacks aimed at erasing them and undoing the rights that had been achieved. With assaults on DEI (Diversity Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) legislation and policy increasing in many countries, minorities are again under attack. Whilst actual book burnings have not yet occurred on the same scale, blacklisting, banning, and the control and distortion of information have.
This can be seen in many actions of the second Trump regime but notably in Executive Order 14173, which revokes Executive Order 11246 (and its amendments), ending legal protection for many marginalised groups, with the Trans and Non-Binary communities being a particular focus as in 1933. The revoking of this executive order has led to the deletion of thousands of digital documents and records with innocuous references to DEI and marginalised groups.
